National Assembly deputy for Union for the Fatherland Itai Hagman stated today that President Javier Milei and the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Karina Milei, 'are up to their necks' in the face of the latest evidence that directly implicates them in the organization of the Libra crypto-scam, which was carried out on February 14 of last year. The Patria Grande economist highlighted that the new available information confirms the hypotheses that the Libra Investigating Commission, of which he was a member, had been working on during 2025. 'This weekend, evidence emerged that (Mauricio) Novelli was in constant communication with Javier Milei and Karina Milei before, during, and after the launch of Libra,' he specified. Hagman affirmed that it is false the argument Milei used to defend himself when the scandal broke last year, when the president claimed he was merely disseminating information about a new investment project he had come across by chance on the internet. 'He had this information a year ago. It is very evident that the prosecutor's conduct was highly irregular,' he launched. And he underlined that 'there are no precedents for a case of this magnitude where the president openly participates in a public scam, and it is outrageous that the Judicial Power has not yet advanced.' 'I don't know what the government is going to invent now to get out of this. They are cornered, they are up to their necks,' he concluded. 'There's no way he could have seen it because no one had published it before him.' 'There is a huge amount of evidence that Milei was fully aware of what he was doing,' he stated. Meanwhile, the deputy maintained that 'there is a huge deficiency in the Office of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office,' and in this regard, he pointed out that 'Milei did not declare that he had already had commercial ties with Novelli'.
